Its been a while since my last post.  the only reason for that is that I had really nothing new to report.  But now I do. When I started this, I always wanted to be 100% honest…even if things weren’t going as well as I’d like. So here’s where its at:

Working

Motivation is way up. I have found a Spotify playlist that is guaranteed to get you going in the morning.  If it doesn’t, check your pulse, as you maybe dead.

Also, if you are looking for a little extra motivation, check out a podcast by a guy by the name of Jocko Willink. The guy was a Navy SEAL and has a unique way of making you realise that if you are going only half-pace, you’re just cheating yourself.  He has also released an “album” of spoken word snippets that you play if you are feeling lazy.  Trust me, when you have a Navy SEAL in your ear, you tend to want to “get after it”.

 

Not Working

In a previous post I mentioned that I would try two new things.  No alcohol for the month of April and training twice a day.  Essentially neither of these things have worked.  Not that I was seriously drinking heaps, but to be honest,  I enjoy a social drink and upon reflection, I really didn’t want to miss out on a couple of family events that I had this month.  The choice between having a beer with my Dad over Easter in front of a fire in the backyard or abstaining…well I made the choice…and I feel pretty good about it.  That being said, the intake is significantly lower that previously.

Re training twice a day, that just hasn’t worked at all.  Evenings are very much taken up by family commitments, so am back to just training in the mornings.  However, it seems to be working a lot better of late.

Whats New

After speaking with Master Tyler, it was time to add some exercises to also work on flexibility.  Have been getting some minor aches in the lower back from running so this will start working on this.  These exercises are taken from “Thirteen-posture Limb Exercises” but I will let Master Tyler comment on the details. In addition to Tai Chi Ball and the work with Buckets, I’ve also thrown in some basic Pushups and Pull ups.  Have done a little of my own research around this and I believe was quite common in Martial arts back in the day….again, I will let Tyler correct me if I’m wrong 🙂

….the good news.  Weight is still increasing! Now up to 74.3-74.6 depending on the day. So while some things aren’t working, am still getting solid progress!
