Tyler is a Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, a Diploma of Chinese Massage, as well as Certification in Qi Gong, and Chinese Dietary Therapy. Tyler is also an internationally accredited Feng Shui Master.
Studying, practicing and teaching Chinese Medicine and related arts for more than 20 years, Tyler regularly lectures at conferences and seminars around Australia as well as authoring articles for professional journals.
Involved in Martial Arts for 35 years initially studying Japanese Judo, Karate, Aikido and later Korean Taekwondo and Brazilian Capoeira. Tyler has devoted the last 20 years to Wushu ‘Traditional Chinese Martial Arts’ beginning with Yong Chun Quan Wing Chun Kung Fu and Hung Fut Southern Boxing. For over 15 years Tyler has been a student of former Beijing Wushu Team member, and training partner of Jet Li – Master Tang Laiwei. Master Tang is a certified 8th Degree Grandmaster and the head coach of Taichi for Life, Nunwading. Under his expert guidance Tyler has become proficient in a variety of styles such as – Chang Quan Long Fist, Nan Quan Southern Fist, Tai Ji Quan Tai Chi (Yang and Chen family), Xing Yi Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, and weapons including – sabre, sword, cudgel, spear, rope dart, double deer horns etc.
A certified NCAS Australian and IWUF International level Coach and Judge, Tyler is a three time former State/National Taichi Champion and in 2011 was member of the Australian National Team to the 11th World Wushu Championships in Ankara, Turkey. In 2014 Tyler was certified by China’s National governing body as the first non-Asian in Australia to achieve the rank of 6th Degree Wushu Master.
